About
the pilgrim...
Moving
through a life filled with challenges and dreams, joys and sorrows,
as a (now single) mother of five, writer, youth minister, religious
education director, theater director, artist, musician, while still
a lover of nature and wilderness...
...yet
I have struggled through disillusionment, confusion, divorce, death,
injustice, failure, chronic illness and the range of heartbreak and
failures, joys and inspirations that come with our lives.
Along
my journey through struggles, He has formed me in the crucible of
life leading me to His Sacred Heart.
Through
trials and graces I have come to know and love deeply the most Perfect,
most Sacred Heart of my Lord, Jesus. The prayers you read are of my
journey through these struggles and graces to the Heart of my Beloved
where I continue to struggle with my failures and trials, yet am overwhelmed
by His tender love, mercy and graces.
It
is my greatest hope and desire to love Him as He so desires to be
loved, immensely, completely, tenderly, and to share this treasure
of love He offers with His people, moving hearts to love Him deeply
as He so desires and deserves.
About
a servant of His Heart..
A “cradle Catholic”, Depression child, with 16 years
of Catholic school education….42 months of wartime Naval service…father
of 6 sons, who lost their mother to melanoma at age 49....blessed
by a loving second wife in a 15 year marriage....still working at
this late stage in life, I first became drawn to His Heart 18 years
ago, when I read the astonishing "12 Promises" and wanted
to learn more about the Devotion and to practice it.
This
led to establishing the Sacred Heart Devotion in my own parish. His
Spirit guided me to develop the Sacred Heart Prayer Booklet 4 years
ago when I recognized the essential prayers were not available in
one source.
When
my wife, a web designer, offered to develop a Sacred Heart website
to create broader reach to the renewal of the Devotion, I accepted
gladly. We went online with the first informative and instructive
Sacred Heart Devotion website, www.sacredheartdevotion.com,
in early 1999.
I
am thankful for His grace to have been chosen, through the action
of His Spirit, to help Him in both this Renewal and now this new Conversion
effort with our second site, the Prayer Retreat; it could not and
would not have come into being without the invaluable, inspired collaboration
and creative contributions in the poems, readings and reflections
of “the pilgrim”.
If
I can be a laborer who came last to his vineyard and yet be granted
the same wages as those who came first, I shall praise Him for His
mercy and be eternally grateful for the unfathomable love of His Sacred
Heart, which made it possible.
